SAMX Sports Panel 2018

Expressions of interest in the 2018 MX Panel were closed on the 24th of November and it looks like we have a great team for the 2018 State Series and Motocross in general. With a strong desire to balance out the MX activities across the State while providing clubs and riders the best possible awareness for interested parties.

The panel consists of;

Mick Breed

John Barton

Tania Corbett

Derani Collins

Eric McConnochie

Robyn Kitchen

Mackie Payne

Mick Potter

With a depth of experience and new blood we have a single cohesive goal of advancing SAMX across the board. Whilst the panel have had their first two meetings to establish an agenda of important issues and challenges for the discipline in 2018;

·         Venues

·         Dates (Currently under review)

·         Social media

·         Officials

·         MX Promotional Plan for 2018

·         Sponsorship

·         Specific classes

·         Innovation for 2018 (ideas and discussion points)

·         State team criteria

·         Budget

These were but a few items discussed at the first meeting. A second meeting has also now been held with final decisions made on a number of these items, then contact all successful clubs to arrange another meeting of all stakeholders. The aim being to ensure we have a well organised, communicated plan for the State Series and all other MX events around the State.

We are also in the process of setting up a dedicated email address which will go straight through to the panel ensuring we capture all feedback and suggestions made, SAMX@motorcyclingsa.org.au is the dedicated email address where all correspondence goes to the whole panel.

First on the agenda were the number of rounds to be held in 2018, rider numbers were similar to the previous year however spread over 5 rounds instead of 4. It was decided to reduce the number of rounds back to 4 to make a better value proposition for riders and clubs. The panel also agreed on the up and coming state title team parameters, we are very much committed to putting SA back on the National stage. MSA have also invested in a number of transponder cases so availability will not be an issue into 2018 as we experienced in 2017.

All in all we are very much in front of the game for next year’s series and will endeavour to cover all bases well before the first round. Any feedback and/or discussion points welcomed and will be put to the SAMX Panel.
