The Webb Plastics SA Road Race Championships Round 2 is all set to take off this Easter weekend at Mac Park Motorsport Circuit, hosted by the Mount Gambier MCC. As a fan favourite and staple event each year, road race enthusiasts are making those final packing decisions before embarking on the trip to Mount Gambier for all the trackside action at Mac Park. With perfect weather and Championship standings heating up, will we see new frontrunners emerge this Easter weekend?
Entry List
The Superbikes are back, featuring 15 of South Australia’s fastest racers vying for those crucial early Championship points. Among these contenders, third-place points runner Charles Holding will be giving his all to seize the round’s top spot and key points, especially with Ty Lynch absent for this round. Trailing Charles by only 3 points, ASBK regular Michael Kemp will be right there for all the front-pack battles.
From a strong opening round, Unitech Racing Sam Pezzetta is becoming more comfortable day by day in the new domain of the SS600, finishing round 1 with a 3rd place contention in the Championships. Can he continue this strong form on the well-known Mac Park Motorsport circuit? Only time will tell! With the SS600 Championship’s current front runner, Olly Simpson, not taking to the track for this round, second overall Charles Holding will be hoping to level the points field and take over the Championship lead, but this will be easier said than done with just 15 points separating himself and the top 6 currently.
Back from taking on Australia’s best at the last ASBK round under lights at Sydney Motorsport Park, Ryder Gilbert will be hoping to continue the strong form in the SS300 class, with Ghage Plowman right there looking for any opportunity to take over the Championship lead for 2024. Only time will tell if Ryder can maintain control of the points table with competition heating up. Unfortunately, current Championship third-place holder Tara Morrison will be missing from the track this weekend as she recovers from a broken left collarbone sustained during her Round 1 SA Championship limited race 3 crash – We look forward to seeing her return in rounds to come.
Showing that the next generation of racing talent is ready to rub shoulders with the seniors, championship leader Judd Plaisted is joining brothers Ethan & Seth Dellow, plus Xayvion Amoy on the grid. If the initial round battles are just a taste of what’s to come for the Junior Championship in 2024.
Adding to all this action is a huge Limited field, Naked, Pre Modern, & a stand-out 72 competitors across the Bears classes, making it a huge weekend.
