From 2020 Motorcycling SA have launched this page, because the amazing talent of our female riders have made it a necessity, and it will be a page that reflects all of the girls and women that are riding and competing in motorcycle sport in South Australia.
Check out the drop down menu for all SA Women in Motorcycling “News”, and look for the “Friday Feature” to return in 2022, which will be made up of the profiles of some of our amazing talent – and with a new one (hopefully) each Friday!
So, whether it is Road Race, Trial, Enduro, Quads, Motocross, Reliability Trial, Dirt Track or Speedway, solo or sidecar, junior or senior – this is now a page for everyone!
South Australia already boasts 2 events specifically for women & girls in 2 disciplines – trial & motocross, with a SA Women’s Cup in both, with the trials event the very first event in SA motorcycling where the girls & women headline the event.
The SA Women’s Cup for Trial, the first event in SA motorcycling to have the girls and women headline, is run by the Keyneton MCC and has been a finalist in the FIM Women in Motorcycling Award (2016) and also gained an honourable mention in 2018.
Motocross’ SA Women’s Cup for motocross has traditionally been held over the Easter weekend as part of the King of the Gulf meeting run by the Port Pirie MCC at their venue at Port Pirie.
Most disciplines also have women specific classes and championships – with enduro, motocross and trial being at the forefront, with junior and senior classes at all of their events – see below for what is on offer in 2022.

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN WOMEN’S CUP – RUN OVER THE EASTER WEEKEND AT PORT PIRIE, AS PART OF THE KING OF THE GULF!
(For senior riders only, but with a full range of junior support classes for both genders)
TRIAL
SOUTH AUSTRALIAN WOMEN’S CUP – RUN IN MAY AS A STAND ALONE EVENT, AND IN THE BAROSSA VALLEY.
Established in 2009, the 1st event in SA to have the girls & women headline an event!
(Full range of classes for both, senior and junior girls and women, both competitive and recreational)
DIRT TRACK, ROAD RACE & SPEEDWAY
Whilst these disciplines don’t have female specific classes, they do welcome and more than cater for female riders, but reasons like track time and number of competitors mean they have to ‘take on the boys’ – which some do to great success!
Look for the profile of SA Women in Motorcycling to continue to rise in 2023;
“Yeh, we ride like girls, try & keep up!”
